MY WINNING FORMULA

Hey lovely readers.

Welcome back to my blog. I hope you are all doing well.

I just looked at the calendar this morning and I was shocked to the core, how is it the 09th already? I mean did someone fast forward the clock or is it just my ass that is lagging behind on so many things? Anyways, despite the shock, I am glad to be alive and still kicking through life and all it has to offer.

The second quarter of the year, is for many of us, the beginning of slow death of all our yearly plans.This happens mainly because the efforts exerted towards the set goals are yet to materialise and our energy is waning. I for one, have personally experienced the second quarter snooze and had to work myself out of the situation and get back on track. Below I share some of the tips and/or tricks that I personally applied and helped me get back on track.

1.PRIORITIZE YOUR HEALTH

“Health is after-all wealth”

I have realised that when my energy levels are down and/or am battling some sort of illness, then other aspects of my life take a sick leave too and the energy/motivation needed to restart life in general is usually too much for one to handle at times. So your best bet is to make sure your energy levels are up by exercising as regularly as the schedule allows and eating the right kinds of food to keep that energy level up. While I suck at this, but a regular health check wont hurt a soul. I have had to register for NHS’s 12 week weight loss plan (you can join too here) in an effort to help me shade that extra weight and make sure am in the best position, health-wise.

2. SCHEDULE EVERYTHING

“If you don’t guard your personal schedule, your life will become someone else’s”

The funny this about time is, if unaccounted for, a-lot of it is wasted in non productive activities or as we millennials term it, passing time through social media. As a certified time waster myself, I can attest that, any hour that is not scheduled is wasted on the Internet trolling and best believe, apart from the motivation videos and podcasts that I listen to/watch, the rest of the time is wasted on nonsense Internet things that have absolute no value to me or my society for that matter. I will take my own advise here and make sure everything, even the Internet troll time is scheduled so that I can make the most of the time each day. I hope you will too.

3. ASK FOR HELP

“Sometimes asking for help is the bravest move you can make”

By the time the second quarter of the year rolls in, you have probably exhausted all your self genius in your projects and/or work area. Before you throw in a towel and quit, how about you ask help from that friendly neighbour/work mentor/family member who may/may not have the best solution for you at the moment. You can’t go at it alone all the times, sometimes you need a helping hand to help you push through.

4. SELF MOTIVATION IS KEY

“People often say that motivation doesn’t last, well neither does bathing. That’s why we recommend it daily”

In the words of Zig Ziglar, one needs a daily dose of motivation for it to have a lasting impact on our lives. I listen to sermons and motivational on a daily, and I must confess, this is by far one of the best things I have ever done for myself. I am more optimistic and more grateful for life and its all because of the motivation that I seek on a daily basis.

5. ME TIME

“Make time for yourself”

I once listened to a podcast by Robin Sharma where he insisted on the necessity of having a free day once a week as a recharge time. At that point, I was working on a very demanding assignment and couldn’t fathom the idea of taking that one day off – amidst the assignment I burnt out and couldn’t accomplish the objective of the assignment. I learnt my lesson pretty quickly and now respect my weekends as rest days. Even if I have weekend assignment, I set out one day of the weekend as a chill day just so that I have that balance and continuity. I highly recommend having ME time at-least once a week to recharge.
