HOW TO SET & ACHIEVE GOALS

Welcome back to my blog.

Happy new year!  Here is to wishing that this is our best year yet.

The beginning of the year is renowned as the time to set goals to challenge us throughout the year. If you are an overachiever, then you have set your goals in the last quarter of the previous year but if your in the normal achieving range like me, then January is the goal setting time for us. I have been setting yearly goals ever since I was old enough to know that setting goals is an important step to ensure successful achievement of the said goals. Despite the determination felt when setting goals, achieving the goals is not easy and most of us fall from the bandwagon as early as February. 2017 was a changing year for me, as it was the year that I started realising some of the set goals. The euphoria one gets as they achieve a goal is the best feeling every one should experience.

Having had the taste of achieving my goals, I thought it would be fair to share with my lovely readers of all the things that I consciously did to achieve to set and achieve the set goals.

1.GET INSPIRED

I humbly advise you to listen to this YouTube video by Brian Tracey. The video details the most practical tips on how to set and achieve goals. I religiously followed these tips and I am confident enough to advise anyone to follow them as they are very practical and doable. Have a watch (here) and let me know what you think.

2. BE PREPARED TO LIVE  OUTSIDE YOUR COMFORT ZONE

This is something that I hated doing all through the course of the year. I realised that I had to let go some comfortable feel habits that were holding me back. In achieving this, I suggest that you have an accountability partner who will help you or in times force you to stay on track. For me, that person is my dear mother and at times my sister, their truth serum is delivered whether I like it or not, because despite my feelings towards the truth, there is nothing I can do to them.

3. ENJOY LIFE IN YOUR PURSUIT OF GOALS

As someone whose emotional neediness is on level 1000, I find that it is very important for me to have mid-celebrations along the way or have an ultimate prize after achieving the set goal(s). The mid-celebrations are especially important for long term goals and they will help    you to maintain the momentum of the goal.
